Christian Days
There are always Christian holy days around the same time as the Pagan festivals. Many say that this is a deliberate act on the part of the early Catholic church to usurp other religions in favour of the Catholic church.
My own understanding is that up until a point christianity and older religions happily lived side by side, until some point in history where the pope of the time decided that Christianity was the one true faith. I think its sad that such an event occurred as it seems to have been the seeds of bigotry.
I decided to point out the christian days that "coincide" with pagan festivals. Are they a rip off or an adaptation? You decide......
I did come across claims recently that the birth of Christ was originally celebrated in May until a particular pope moved the date to December 25th. Just a few days after Yule? Maybe it was just because of the changing of the calender.
