Wheel of the Year
A Day is a fixed point
A moment which soon passes
Some say it wont return
Some of us know different
For seasons all come round again
Time has no beginning or end
I start my year at Samhain
I end it on that day too
Recalling the past seasons
And kindred we have lost
But I'm looking to the next year
And the promise it contains
Yule time comes around next
In the fullest days of winter
When the nights are longest
Gradually the sun will return
As the days become longer
The Earth will awaken again
Imbolc is the next spoke
On the wheel that turns my year
The lambs are born now
But winter is still severe
The new life in the little ones
Are a promise of things to come
Ostara is when spring comes
A promise fulfilled, life returns
The open womb of the mother
Brings life to the bare land
This is a time to celebrate
The abundant fullness of llife
Beltane is the frolic time
It's the fertility season
A time for love, and more
The Earth shows her fertility
When the life bursts forth
The flowers of the Earth
Midsummer is called Litha
A time of life's abundance
The sun sails high in the sky
The chariot of the God
Giving life to all things growing
Soon the harvest will be here
Lammas is the harvest season
When our crops are ready
We give thanks for the food
This time of gathering
As we fill up our stores
Ready for the cold time
Mabon is a special time
The end of the harvest season
Length of night and day is same
A time of balance and reason
The days will now grow shorter
And darker days will come
